Interesting place to view flowers in Dalat

Dalat is known as the city of flowers, thanks to the wide variety of flowers planted here, especially in parks. Flowers in this central-highlands city bloom every season.

Every year, new species of flowers are imported into the city, which lies 1,475m above the sea level. Even long-term residents of Dalat cannot remember the names of all the flowers. When winter comes and everything must survive against the cold weather, flowers bloom in their biggest number in Dalat.

Among the parks in the city, the one that provides the fondest memories for visitors is the Dalat Flower Park, home to most species of flowers in Dalat.

Located next to Xuan Huong Lake, the 7,000m² park is a convenient place for tourists, especially couples who want to capture photographic moments of their weddings. Many artisans also choose the park to showcase their skills in caring and planting flowers.

Garlands combining hundreds of different flowers greet visitors at the gate and the park’s name is spelled out using grass and flowers. At the entrance, a red flower star lies on a colourful flower base and there are animals made from flowers. Further on is a small waterfall.

Flowers line the paths and fill the carts. Pansies in romantic purple, red xac phao, and thin forget-me-not are just some of the flowers in the park. Orchids are transplanted to display many strange and beautiful species.

Other special flowers include peach trees from Hanoi, flowers from the Netherlands, colourful tulips, strange chrysanthemum, or an unknown species of flower with blue petals.

There is also a garden of cactus in the park, collected from species in Africa. Unlike the small cactus sold in cities, the trees here are 50 to 60cm in diameter.

It is said that visitors can skip beautiful sights such as Prenn Waterfall, the Valley of Love and private gardens like Minh Tam if the time is tight. However, everyone tries to visit the Dalat Flower Park. It is a destination everybody wants to visit and not only for the first time.
