New Year offerings from Vietnamese carriers

National carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced discounts of over 20% on some international sectors during the New Year period. 

Between December 15 and January 15 foreigners and members of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Beluxcham) and their families can buy business and economy return tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to Japan’s Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo for US$999 and $649 respectively.

They have also been slashed to $949 and $509 for flights between HCMC and the Republic of Korea cities Seoul and Busan.

Earlier this month, the carrier had announced substantial discounts on several domestic sectors around the Lunar New Year (Tet) which falls on January 29 next year.

Pacific Airlines joins race

Pacific Airlines, the country’s second airliner, has also announced special fares on the Hanoi, HCMC, and Danang sectors before and after Tet.

Between January 21 and 28 fares a return ticket will cost VND1.5 million between Hanoi and HCMC and a one-way ticket, VND1 million. Normally, the one-way fare is VND1.65 million.

Round trips on the Hanoi-Danang and HCMC-Danang routes will cost VND1 million and one-way trips VND600,000.

The airline has also announced special rates after Tet – between February 1 and 10 – for flights from HCMC to Hanoi and Danang, and from Danang to Hanoi.
